This week, we light a candle to honor, remember, and cherish all transgender and gender non-conforming people whose lives have been lost to violence right here in the heart of Brooklyn and across the world.
We hold in our hearts members of our Brooklyn LGBTQ+ family whose lives were taken too soon. Their laughter, creativity, and light made our community stronger. We say their names not only in grief, but in gratitude for the joy, courage, and beauty they shared with the world.
To our trans friends, neighbors, and family, we see you, and stand with you. Grief and loss can be heavy to carry. If you are struggling, please know you do not have to do so alone. Our social work team provides weekly, culturally competent, and confidential therapy for LGBTQ+ individuals. You can learn more about scheduling an appointment on our website or by joining our TGNC Adult Support Group.
At BCPC, our support for TGNC Brooklynites does not begin and end today. It is part of who we are. Through programs like Transpire, TGNC Swim Night, and our Trans and Gender Non-Conforming Adult Support Group, we create spaces of connection, healing, and affirmation led by and for trans and gender-expansive individuals.
Join us on Friday, November 21 from 6-10 pm for Always Shining Bright, our third annual Trans Day of Remembrance vigil, in partnership with the HEAT Program. We will honor the night with performances by Trans artists, a grief counselor to guide us, and a community to support us. Free resources, HIV testing, food, and more. Find strength in community with us as we honor the lives lost and the lives loved.
