Founded by Melanie Wilson, Death of the Party is a growing community for grieving LGBTQ+ folks and allies who have experienced the death of someone close. Their mission is to host community events that facilitate creative ways to express and explore grief.

Hosted by The Green-Wood Cemetery in partnership with Death of the Party and Brooklyn Community Pride Center, share your original, grief inspired poetry, music, comedy, spoken word, or dance with fellow LGBTQ+ artists and allies who understand loss. After the “Soul Showcase,” enjoy mingling at a post-show mixer. It is not required that you perform; for those who want to just sit back and experience others’ art, please grab a ticket and bring your friends.

To sign-up as a performer, please fill out this form. We will curate the performance line-up to ensure variety prior to the event. We appreciate you sharing your talents and soul with us. For any additional questions, please contact Melanie Wilson (she/her) at deathofthepartynyc@gmail.com.
