MSW/MHC Fieldwork Internships

APPLICATIONS ARE CURRENTLY CLOSED. PLEASE CHECK BACK.

We are currently seeking a first- or second-year MHC or MSW intern for the Fall 2023-Spring 2024 school year. Lived experience or very strong allyship with the LGBTQ+ community required. Supervision will be provided by a NYS-licensed LMSW. Read more about the opportunity and fill out our interest form below.

Given the breadth of the Center's offerings, internships are highly customizable and can focus on a number of different areas. We will work with you to tailor your experience to your needs and interests. Example projects may include, but are not limited to:

  • Providing direct counseling services to individuals and groups

  • Connecting community members to relevant resources

  • Developing and facilitating events and workshops, or stewarding relationships with community partners who will deliver such programming

  • Supporting the development of Center processes and procedures, such as safe space agreements and emergency response policies

  • Strengthening the Center's connections to community-based organizing movements and mutual aid initiatives

  • Aid in keeping community resource lists up-to-date

While any internship is necessarily a learning experience, prospective Brooklyn Community Pride Center interns must possess sensitivity to and awareness of the key issues that queer and trans individuals face. We will work with you to expand you knowledge base, but you must have existing familiarity and experience (personal or professional) with the LGBTQ+ community.

If you have any questions, please reach out to Lindsay Mottola at lmottola@lgbtbrooklyn.org. We look forward to learning more about you!
