Lindsay Mottola of Brooklyn Community Pride Center will serve on one of the panels during the festival, discussing how the LGBTQ+ community is affected by mental health. Only 1 in 3 LGBTQ youth find their home to be LGBTQ-affirming and 42% seriously considered attempting suicide in 2021. LGBTQ+ youth who have one or more accepting adults in their life are 40% less likely to attempt suicide or face similar severe mental health challenges. This panel will explore how we as a community can ensure that LGBTQ+ communities not only have access to mental health support, but also are prepared to advocate for their own unique experiences tied to mental health.
