Brooklyn Pride Center Leaving Twitter in Response to Anti-Trans Policies
April 21, 2023
Effective immediately, Brooklyn Community Pride Center has deactivated its Twitter account because the platform has removed policies protecting trans and nonbinary people from hate speech, targeted misgendering, harassment and deadnaming. This dangerous decision makes it more difficult for trans and nonbinary people to exist safely online.
We call on Twitter to reverse its decision and to commit to protecting all marginalized communities from hate speech. We also urge our community to contact Twitter and let them know that this decision is unacceptable.
We will continue to engage with our community on other social media platforms such as Facebook, Instagram, and LinkedIn. Thank you for your understanding and support.
