The Alphabet Set: LGBTQ+ Pre-Teens Building Friendship and Resistance
The Alphabet Set is a social support group for LGBTQ+ 10-12 year olds facilitated by licensed social worker Rousz DeLuca. It provides a space for pre-teens to to connect over games and crafts, explore identities and experiences, celebrate queer culture and history, and build coping skills.

About the event
The Alphabet Set is a social support group for LGBTQ+ 10-12 year olds to connect over games and crafts, explore identities and experiences, celebrate queer culture and history, and build coping skills for managing the emotional impacts of transphobia/homophobia. This group will be facilitated Rousz DeLuca (they/them), LMSW, MFA, a queer and trans therapist and community organizer. There may also be guest facilitators, as well as referrals to other resources in New York for LGBTQ+ kids. This group is in-person, but the option to participate virtually is also available.
Access notes: To make this group safe and accessible for kids with chronic illness/disabilities or immunocompromised family members, we will be asking everyone to wear masks, refrain from wearing scented products, and to attend from home if they are sick. The Brooklyn Community Pride Center is wheelchair-accessible and has wheelchair-accessible, all-gender bathrooms.
