About the event
Join us for a unique experience celebrating stories of Brooklyn and Kalamkari. Kalamkari is a 3000-year old textile craft practiced currently only in Sri Kalahasti, India. Brooklyn based artist and educator, Nikita Shah has brought together the first ever communal kalamkari story-cloth based on stories from residents in Brooklyn, especially Queer seniors and South Asian adults.
The showcase is a celebration of their stories, the cloth and importantly the people!
This event is open to all.
You will get to see the cloth, learn more about Kalamkari, meet Nikita and the creators of the cloth.
Light snacks will be served.
