Alyssa is a trans, pan and poly, Latina who has been a practicing Buddhist since 2009. Her studies and practice have been primarily within the Tibetan Buddhist traditions where she is a vajrayana practitioner since 2016. Trained as a meditation guide and umdze (chant and practice leader) she has been leading queer meditation groups and retreats since 2012. Meditation helped Alyssa decide on transitioning and has been her anchor while dealing with chronic illness and the death of her partner. She understands how the mind affects the body and the body, the mind and believes that anyone can meditate no matter their physical or mental health issues. Meditation is about working on who you are in the present moment and who you can be in the future.
