About the event
Join us for a FREE Black LGBTQ+ Book Fair, hosted by the Brooklyn Community Pride Center in collaboration with Reading for Black Lives and the Nonbinarian Book Bike. This event is dedicated to celebrating and amplifying the voices of Black LGBTQ+ authors, who are often underrepresented in the literary world.
Throughout the day, attendees can enjoy a variety of creative activities, including zine making, collage making, and bookmark making—perfect opportunities to connect with others and leave with unique keepsakes from the fair.
Reading for Black Lives and the Nonbinarian Book Bike will also be distributing free books, along with reading lists curated by one of the fair’s organizers, Kevwe, R4BL, and Your Neighborly Bookish Lesbian, all of which center Black LGBTQ+ experiences.
We’ll also host a powerful reading of a banned book, sparking a communal conversation about the social and political challenges impacting literature today. Don’t miss this chance to immerse yourself in a day of books, creativity, and community!
THIS IS AN OFFICIAL 2024 BROOKLYN BOOK FESTIVAL BOOKEND EVENT.
